Maa Kushmanda- 4th Day of Navratri
On the fourth day of the Navratri, Goddess Kushmanda is worshipped. This is the fourth form of the Goddess Durga. The name of Goddess Kushmanda formed with the help of three words- ‘Ku’, ‘Ushma’, and ‘Anda’. Here Ku stands for the little, Ushma stands for the warmth and the Anda means egg. Thus it stands for someone who has created this universe as a small cosmic egg. As well as this is believed that the Goddess created this universe with her smile. Goddess Kushmanda has eight arms holding Kamandalu, Gada, Chakra, Dhanush, lotus-flowers and other edges and a japmala. She rides a lion and since she has eight arms as well as she is known as the ‘Devi AshtaBhuja’. Goddess Kushmanda blesses her devotees with the brightness, peace, and clarity.
On the fourth day you can chant below mention mantras and seek her blessings:
Ya Devi sarvabhuteshu Ma Kushmanda Rupena Samsthita
Namastasyai Namastasyai Namastasyai Namo Namah
It means that the Goddess Kushmanda is omnipresent as the personification of the universal mother. Thus the goddess is omnipresent as the embodiment of the power and she is the goddess who is omnipresent as the symbol of the peace.
Puja Vidhi
To start the pooja on the fourth day then the first thing you need to do is that place a Kalash and then worship your ishta devata and the other Gods and Goddesses and then pray to the Goddess Kushmanda. When you are going to start the puja then the first thing to do is take flowers in the hands and then bow them down before the Goddess. After doing these rituals offer flowers, coconut, fruits, milk, sindoor, dhoop and decorate the goddess with the jewelry and other adornments. As well as perform aarti and the end the pooja by distributing the prasadam.
