Dussehra 2019 – Significance and Shubh Vijay Muhurat

The festival of Dussehra also called Vijayadashami (Vijay means victory and Dashami means tenth day) is celebrated every year by the Hindu people all over the country in the happiness of triumph of lord Rama over the 10-headed demon or devil king Ravana. Dussehra, which is celebrated on the 10th day the Shukla paksha of the month of Ashvin. This festival is celebrated after the conclusion of the nine-day Navratri. In 2019 it falls on October 8.

Significance of Dussehra:

Dussehra is a festival and celebration of the victory of good or evil and the festival which signifies that wrongdoings on someone or on some the other day is coming on the front of everyone or in front of god and he will be punished about all wrongdoings as by his choice. This day is also celebrated to the mark the victory of goddess Durga over Mahishasur.

Maa Siddhidatri – 9th Day of Navratri

The last in the middle of the 9 Avatar of Maa Durga, Maa Siddhidatri, is worshipped on the 9th day of Navratri. Maa Siddhidatri removes ignorance and provides knowledge to her devotees, she awards her devotees all sorts of attainment, accomplishment and she is competent in giving all sort of occult supremacy. Maa Siddhidatri rules over the planet Ketu. She is the instructor of the intelligence of people and encourages them towards a restricted, disciplined and religious life. Puja vidhi:

Maa Mahagauri – 8th Day of Navratri

On the eighth day of the Navratri Goddess Mahagauri is worshipped. The eighth day is dedicated to Goddess Mahagauri. She is very powerful and she has the power to fulfill all of the wishes of her devotees and those who pray to her. People get relief from all their suffering. Therefore the Mahagauri stands for the extremely white as the Goddess was white color and very beautiful. Mahagauri is represented with the four hands, holding a lotus, trident and a drum and the fourth one is being for the blessing gesture. Therefore the lotus is at the times replaced with a rosary.

Story of the Goddess Mahagauri

The Goddess Parvati had to be performed penance in order to get Lord Shiva as her husband. On the other hand while undergoing that she had to face a lot of hardships like survive on the leaves, stay in the wild and dark forests and due to such conditions her color complexion turned into black. Later, when the lord shiva accepted her as his wife then he bathed her with the water from the Ganga which turned her complexion back again to the normal as the fair. This is the reason for which she is known as Mahagauri.

Additionally, there is another story according to that story it was said that there was a hungry lion who saw Mahagauri who is performing the penance. Therefore the lion waited for her penance to end t satiate his hunger but the long period passed and the lion grew hungrier and the weaker. After performing the penance when the goddess opened her eyes then she saw that the lion sitting in front of her and she felt very bad for the lion because she had also performed penance along with the goddess. After then the Goddess decided to make the lion as her vehicle and since then, the lion and bull both are seen as the vehicle of the Goddess.

Puja Vidhi

On the day of the ashtami, the women offer the red dupatta to the Goddess. On the day of the Ashtmi first clean the area where you want to perform the Puja. Then place an idol or a picture of the Goddess Mahagauri. After it places a white cloth on the table where you have kept the idol or the picture and keep the Mahagauri yantra here. Take some of the flowers in the hand and pray to the Goddess Mahagauri.

On the Ashtami, the Kanya pooja is also performed in which you need to invite the nine girls at your home. First, wash their feet and then offer the food to them. It includes the halwa, poori, and the Kala chana along with the coconut and some money. The age of the girls should be above 2 years and less than 10 years. Therefore the girls should be nine in the number or else two.

Maa Kalratri

Maa Kalratri – 7th Day of Navratri

Today is the seventh day of the Navratri and it is dedicated to the Goddess Kaalratri. This is one of the fiercest forms of the Goddess Durga and it is believed as the destroyer of all the bad spirits, ghosts, and the negative energies. For the reason here the Kaal means the time and the death and the Ratri means the night. Therefore Goddess Kalratri is one of the Devi who removes all the darkness from life. Consequently, she is revered with the name of the Kal Ratri because she represents herself as the death of the Kaal appeared like a dark night for the demons. The left two hands of the Goddess hold a thunderbolt and a scimitar and the right two hands are in the mudras of the giving and protecting. Saptami Pooja of the Goddess Kalratri is considered as the Maha Puja and it is the main pooja.

Puja Vidhi

First, worship the Kalash and the gods residing in it. Then performing all the rituals seek the blessings of the Goddess Kaalratri. When you are going to start the puja take some of the flowers in the hand and then chant the mantras while invoking the Goddess.

Maa Katyayani – 6th Day of Navratri

Tomorrow is the sixth day of the Navratri. On the sixth day of Navratri, we worship the goddess Katyayani who is the sixth form of the Goddess Durga. Therefore each and every people seek for blessings and worshipping various forms of the Goddess Durga. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that Goddess Parvati took the form of the Goddess Katyayini to kill the demon Mahishasura. Therefore Katyayini appears as a warrior Goddess. From ancient times it was said that she took the birth as the daughter of the sage Katyayani due to which she is known as Katyayani. Goddess Katyayani is represented by the four arms.

Her upper left hand has a sword and her lower left hand represents lotus. There are several beliefs that are added while worshipping the Goddess, and her devotees feel the ‘Agya Chakra’ which shows them the path to sacrificing everything to her and she fulfills all the wishes and the desires of the worshippers. If you are facing any issue in your marital life then you can pray to Goddess Katyayini because she will help you to improve your marital life and provides an effective solution that relief to her devotees from all the problems of life.

According to ancient times and Hindu mythology, the sage Katyayani performed the penance to get the Goddess Durga as his daughter. After listening to sage katyanana prayers Goddess Durga accepted his request and was born in the ashram of the Katyayana. Therefore the Mahishasur’s army reached heaven to overthrow the Gods and that is when the deities Brahma, Vishnu, and the Mahesha requested Goddess Durga to end the torment of the Mahishasur. Therefore the sage Katyayana was the first on who got the privilege to worship her hence the name is Katyayani. Additionally, it is believed that the Goddess took the birth on the Krishna Chaturdashi and Katyayana worshipped her on the Shukla Saptami, Ashtami, and Navmi. And on the tenth day, she killed the Mahishasur.

Pujan Vidhi

Follow these rituals to worship goddess Katyayani. First, worship the Kalash and gods residing in it. Afterward, pray to Goddess Katyayani and chant the mantras with the flowers in your hands. When you complete worshiping Goddess Katyayani then worship Lord Brahma and Vishnu.

Maa Skandamata- 5th Day of Navratri

Today is the fifth day of the Navratri. On the fifth day of the Navratri, Goddess Skandamata is worshiped. Therefore the Skanda is another name for the Kartikeya and Mata means the mother. In simple words, she is the mother of Lord Kartikeya. As well as Goddess Skandamaata is known to bless her devotees with the power, salvation, prosperity, and treasures and she can grant the wisdom to the most illiterate person provided he worships her. For the reason, it was said that when someone worships her, then the lord Skanda who is on her lap is also worshipped and devotee gets the dual blessings of the son and mother. Goddess Skandamata is also known as the Goddess of the Fire. She has four arms and she rides a lion. She carried water material, a bell, and a lotus. She is seated on the lotus and she is also known as the Goddess with lotus seat.

Poojan Vidhi

First, clean the place where you are placing Goddess Picture. Then place the [picture of the goddess idol on the table. After placing idol’s picture sprinkle Ganga jal. Place a pot which is made of the brass or sand and then place a coconut above it. On the same table keep the lord Ganesha, lord Varun, navagraha, and all the other Gods and Goddesses. Then start performing the puja rituals using the items such as milk, fruits, flowers, sindoor, roli, clothes for the Goddess and the other adornments. Finish your pooja by performing the aarti and distribute the Prasad to everyone.

Maa Kushmanda- 4th Day of Navratri

On the fourth day of the Navratri, Goddess Kushmanda is worshipped. This is the fourth form of the Goddess Durga. The name of Goddess Kushmanda formed with the help of three words- ‘Ku’, ‘Ushma’, and ‘Anda’. Here Ku stands for the little, Ushma stands for the warmth and the Anda means egg. Thus it stands for someone who has created this universe as a small cosmic egg.  As well as this is believed that the Goddess created this universe with her smile. Goddess Kushmanda has eight arms holding Kamandalu, Gada, Chakra, Dhanush, lotus-flowers and other edges and a japmala. She rides a lion and since she has eight arms as well as she is known as the ‘Devi AshtaBhuja’. Goddess Kushmanda blesses her devotees with the brightness, peace, and clarity.

On the fourth day you can chant below mention mantras and seek her blessings:

Ya Devi sarvabhuteshu Ma Kushmanda Rupena Samsthita

Namastasyai Namastasyai Namastasyai Namo Namah

It means that the Goddess Kushmanda is omnipresent as the personification of the universal mother. Thus the goddess is omnipresent as the embodiment of the power and she is the goddess who is omnipresent as the symbol of the peace.

Puja Vidhi

To start the pooja on the fourth day then the first thing you need to do is that place a Kalash and then worship your ishta devata and the other Gods and Goddesses and then pray to the Goddess Kushmanda. When you are going to start the puja then the first thing to do is take flowers in the hands and then bow them down before the Goddess. After doing these rituals offer flowers, coconut, fruits, milk, sindoor, dhoop and decorate the goddess with the jewelry and other adornments. As well as perform aarti and the end the pooja by distributing the prasadam.

Maa Chandraghanta – 3rd Day of Navratri

Goddess Chandraghanta is worshipped on the third day of Navratri. Maa Chandraghanta, hour- sized crescent moon look on her head and a bell which gives her name Chandraghanta. This is the reason behind that why devotees called them Chandraghanta. She prescribed peace, knowledge, prosperity, bliss, goodness and her devotees pray to her for completing their desires, prosperity, peace, success and better equipment in their life. Maa Brahmacharini – 2nd Day of Navratri

During the second day of Navratri, Goddess Brahmacharini means one who practices penance and she is a devoted student who lives in the ashram with the guru along with the students. While the word Brahma means and refers as (Tapa) penance and charini meaning a female flower, she is basically also known as Tapasyacharini, Parvati or Tapaswini. Goddess Maa Brahmacharini is the unmarried form of goddess Parvati, and she is usually identified as a form of goddess Durga in the second day of Navratri. She clutches and holds a rosary in her right hand and water utensil in her left hand. Maa Brahmacharini disciple and devotees are content and pleased with good worth, high merit, harmony, concern, sympathy, peace, gladness, wealth, nobility, and goodness.

Puja vidhi –

At the time of performing puja make out a proper arrangement of her bath in which you require flowers, roli, sandalwood, akshat, milk, curd, sugar, honey, and apart from it prescribed paan and supari after that pray to your Ishta Devta and Navagrahas.

Maa Shailputri – 1st Day of Navratri

From the time of Navratri goddess, Durga is worshiped in nine forms. Maa Shailputri is worshiped on the very first day of Navratri; Maa Shailputri is also referred to as a goddess of Parvati the wife of Lord Shiva and a mother of Lord Ganesha and Lord Kartikey. The goddess Parvati is given a picture of encompasses a half-moon on her brow or forehead, holding a trident on her right hand and a lotus in her left hand at the same time as riding the Nandi. Goddess Parvati took rebirth as a daughter and literally means the daughter of the lord (shail) which basically means in Sanskrit as a (mountain) on the other hand goddess Parvati is known as (daughter of the mountain).

The legends –

Maa, Devi Bhagwati in her earlier birth was born to the daughter of Daksha as a (sati). She was married to Lord Shiva; once a Daksha (daughter of sati) organized a ceremony and does not invite lord Shiva (husband of sati). She felt insulted or could not bear the insult and get self – immolated in the yogic fire in that ceremony which is organized by her father (Daksha). When she is reborn, she is manifested as a daughter Parvat raj Himalayas as a (Parvati). She is got married to lord Shiva during her birth as well. Maa Shailputri is the very first and most noteworthy amid NAVA Durgas worshipped during Navratri.

write ‘sh’ with Kesar on it and place gutika there with taking red flowers in your hand by placing a red cloth on a chowki where you want to place goddess Shailputri picture and pray o goddess Shailputri while chanting this mantra:

After chanting the mantra, offer bhog and chant the mantra mention below at least 108 times –

Importance of Adhik Maas in Hindu Religion

What is Adhik Mass:-

Adhik Maas mean extra month or additional month within the lunisolar calendar is additionally referred to as Purushottam mass. Vrat -According to the Bhavishyottar puran, the Lord Krishna Himself is that the Phal Daataa, Bhokta and Adhishthaata. Thus Adhik Maas Vrat produces positive results.

The reading of Holy Scriptures – throughout the Adhik Maas the reading or being attentive to the Holy Scriptures is taken into account terribly fruitful.

Daan or punya – in keeping with the Devi Bhagvat, the Daan -Punya no matter is completed throughout Adhik Maas, brings smart results to the one whom.

Other things – Anushthan for obtaining prevent too serious diseases, donations throughout eclipse etc. Parikrama of Govardhan giriraj, Bhajan, Keertan, giving food to Sadhoos, Saints or Brahamans etc.

It is written within the Bhavishyottar Sanskrit literature that Sri Krishna Himself has aforesaid relating to Adhik Maas Vrat that by finishing up the Vrat with the only aim of worshiping God, through fast, cleanliness, charity, puja etc. deserves are no inheritable that turn out unfailing results and every one forms of calamities are overcome.

नवरात्रि में माँ की पूजा अर्चना  का विशेष माना जाता है। अगर नवरात्रि में कोई विशि विधान से माँ की पूजा अर्चना करे तो उसकी हर मनोकामना पूरी होती है।  वास्तु शास्त्रों के अनुसार कुछ ऐसी वास्तु बताई गयी है जिनका खास संबंध किसी विशेष देवी-देवता या दिन से माना जाता है। वास्तु के अनुसार, अगर  नवरात्र के दौरान घर में वास्तु लाई जाएं तो देवी प्रसन्न होती हैं और घर-परिवार पर देवी की विशेष कृपा बनी रहती है।

आईये जानते है उन वस्तु के बारे में।

देवी लक्ष्मी की तस्वीर :- देवी लक्ष्मी  की तस्वीर घर ले आये। जिसमे माँ कमल के फूल पर विराजमान हो।  इससे माँ लक्ष्मी और दुर्गा का आशीर्वाद प्राप्त होगा।

मोर पंख :-  मोर पंख को माँ सरस्वती का  वाहन माना गया है।  मोर पंख को नवरात्रि के दौरान घर ले आये और उसे घर के मंदिर में रख दे।  इससे माँ की कृपा  होगी और घर में सुख शांति आएगी।

सोलह श्रृंगार का सामान :-  माँ को सोलह श्रृंगार चढाने से माँ की कृपा होती है।   नवरात्रि में  सोलह श्रृंगार ले आये और माँ दुर्गा को चढ़ाये। इससे माँ का आशीर्वाद मिलेगा और मनोकामना पूर्ण होगी।

नवरात्रि के दौरान घर में चांदी और सोने का सिक्का लाना अच्छा माना जाता है।  इससे माँ लक्ष्मी और नौ  देवियों का आशीर्वाद आपको प्राप्त होगा।
